

Let’s say a home health aide gets paid $20* an hour. If they accept additional wages in the form of cash, they will get taxed for their hourly wage ($20/hr), as well as the additional wages of $2.54/hr making the taxable income $22.54/hr for each hour worked.
However, with the Wage Parity benefit, you are only taxed for the $20.00 base wage, and the additional wage of $2.54/hr is tax-free. That's additional take-home money of $132.75/mo or $1592.96/yr (based on a 40-hour work week).
