Under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act ("USERRA"), an employee who has coverage under an employer's health plan and is absent from work because of service in the uniformed services is entitled to elect to continue his or her employer sponsored health insurance coverage during this absence.
If your COBRA qualifying event was termination or reduction in hours due to uniformed service, you are eligible for an additional six months of coverage continuation under USERRA. The extension period is calculated from the date your original COBRA continuation period expires.
